Cyber Collective receives Funding from Omidyar Network

At Cyber Collective, we are working towards a world where technology is overwhelmingly a force for good; where people experience true autonomy and agency in their relationships with technology; and where the culture of technology shifts from a powerful few to the powerful many. And we’re striving to help one million people become more safe, secure, and confident online.

As we look to the future, we’re aiming for deep impact. We will uncover what actions people are taking to secure themselves online after accessing our resources or attending our workshops. We’ll collaborate with our broad audiences via workshops and presentations to chart a new map for the future of technology and tech ethics. And we’ll push the industry to be more human-centered and transparent through our partnerships focused on humanizing and simplifying complex information.

Since our founding in 2019, we’ve built considerable awareness around data and privacy via social media. We’ve amassed over 13,000 Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn followers, reaching more than 300,000 accounts with our educational content. We’re growing our follower base by 20% every month, and our content has an impressive 7% engagement rate (compared with a benchmark of 1.2%). More than 2,500 people have attended our workshops, and 94% of attendees reported that the sessions inspired them to make changes in their online behaviors.
